Meet the founders

I had the honour of being born into a family of transport entrepreneurs. Following in my grandfather's footsteps, I have spent my whole life around machines and equipment. My childhood and youth were spent in the service garage under my uncles' guidance, hands on the grease gun — lessons I have now been rehearsing for over 50 years.

My career choice was confirmed by transport and logistics technician studies in Porvoo. Driving work then began with ready-mix concrete deliveries, until the army called. The military transport side rewarded me with every driving licence category and motor NCO training.

On returning to civilian life in '93, I headed straight to Germany and turned the wheel of a semi all over Europe. Hotel Volvo became a familiar place. Around the turn of the millennium the focus shifted to the home front, and my grandfather's passing in 2002 handed over the responsibilities — a 30-year-old had big boots to fill.

In the early 2000s I started working as a wheel loader and machinery operator alongside my logistics studies. From there I gradually moved behind the wheel of a Sisu truck on earthmoving jobs. Then came the call-up to army greys, and the capable Jaeger Brunberg was dispatched to motor NCO school.

After the army I moved on to full combination vehicles, driving for Oy R. Sjöholm Ab for six years — both semi-trailers and module combinations, as well as concrete, crane and delivery trucks. Alongside the driving I carried out vehicle servicing and repairs.

Little by little, Kim Sjöholm and I started weighing things up and realised that, beyond a long friendship, we share exactly the same views and ideas about what we can and want to offer: a transport company where solid professional skill, professional pride and quality are the deciding factors. That is how Oy Söbe Group Ab was born.
